DESCRIPTION:The HRCR are again running their much loved Open Day at Th
 e Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon. It will be the gathering point for al
 l those interested in historic rallying which is the fastest growing m
 otor sport in this country.\nThis year two Anniversaries form the them
 e.\n2012 marks 80 years since the first running of the RAC Rally, held
  in 1932 as a reliability trial with all types of tests including a sl
 ow driving test. In 1960 the Rally moved onto the private forest roads
  and grew into one of the Worlds best rallies and the biggest spectato
 r event in Britain, when hundreds of thousands of fans stood in the fo
 rests to watch rallying household names of the 70′s and 80′s inclu
 ding Roger Clark, Hannu Mikkola, Tony Pond, Colin McRae and Richard Bu
 rns battle for the World Rally crown.\nThe second of the Anniversaries
  marks 30 years since the Event that launched Historic Rallying in thi
 s country the Lombard Golden Fifty took place in 1982 to celebrate 50 
 years of the RAC Rally. The Lombard Golden Fifty launched a whole new 
 area of motor sport.\nThe star of this year’s Open Day will be the 1
 978 RAC Rally winning Escort of Hannu Mikkola & Arne Hertz\nWe will al
 so have Rally cars displayed outdoors on the Western Arena, situated j
 ust outside the Main HRCR Hall. This display Area will be restricted t
 o Rally Cars only. Stands in the Main HRCR Hall will highlight many of
  today’s Historic Rallies. So if you are interested in Historic Rall
 ying, Gaydon is the place to be.\nEntry into the Historic Rally Car Re
 gister Open Day is free, entry into the museum for the open day attend
