The Epic Challange

Whats the Challenge?

The Hideaway Lakes Portugal - Algarve2Arctic Charity Challenge consists of: 2 guys, 2 Triumph Tigers, lots of stars and about 8000km.  The aim is to raise money and the profile of Parkinson's Disease Charities.

The epic journey will start at Hideaway Lakes in the Algarve and finish in the Arctic Circle with a little detour to Scotland and back down.  The plan is to visit Parkinson's Homes on the route.

Why undertake this Challenge?

John the owner of Hideaway Lakes Portugal has watched his father sadly and distressingly suffer from Parkinson's and he is now in the latter stages.  John decided that him and his best mate would do a motorbike ride in honour of his father, but the challenge's finale tour is due in Sept/Oct 2014 and as such may well be in memory.

We are hoping that motorbike clubs and riders will join John and Nick on different legs of journey.  We would like to make this as high profile as possible and hope to be able to get some celebrities to join in.

The Charities

We are looking to help a couple of charities and already have APDPk (Associação Portuguesa de Doentes de Parkinson).  This organisation offers help physically and psychologically to both Portuguese and Ex-Pats. This means Ex-Pats can stay in Portugal and do not have to return to their home nation for help.  To APDPk every cent/penny really does help them.

Where and what is Hideaway Lakes?

Hideaway Lakes is located near Rasmalho between Portimao and Monchique in the Algarve, Portugal.  It a vision of John Campbell to create a small English Country Estate in the Algarve.  Stage 1 - Carp and Bass Fishing, Stage 2 - Conservation Hunting Stage 3 - Country pursuits.  We are at Stage 1 now and because of its location it makes a fantastic venue for events.

Whats the plan leading up to the challenge in 2014?

We are looking to spend the next few months raising the profile of the challenge and start building supporters and sponsors.  In addition we are looking for people to host mini events as every cent/penny really does count.  We will also start planning larger events to be mainly held at Hideaway Lakes including fishing competitions, auctions, concerts, cocktail parties and lots more.

How can you help?

Corporate

On a Corporate level we looking for organisations to sponsor legs of the journey, equipment, events and donate prizes that can be auctioned off.  We are hoping that as this is 2 years away, businesses can factor sponsorship into their future budgets.  Main sponsors and supporters will feature on our merchandise that we will sell with profits going to the charities

Individual

We need people to organise mini events to raise money, whether thats a small dinner party where guests pay to attend and hosts supply the food free of charge, a car/bike rally or event etc

We will also be looking for donations and nearer the time sponsorship of the guys on their challenge
