The 57th anniversary of the iconic ’57 Chevrolet is so historically significant in our American car culture that some of the UK’s Chevy enthusiasts have teamed up with Long Marston Airfield’s Shakespeare County Raceway to bring you 57@57 – a celebration of an American classic – the ’57 Chevrolet.
The 1957 Chevrolet was first introduced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors in September, 1956 in three models: the Bel Air, the "two-ten", and the "one-fifty". A two-door station wagon, the Nomad was also produced in the Bel Air range along with the "Delray" two-ten 2-door sedan.
With its classic flowing lines of fins and chrome the ’57 is as popular as it was 57 years ago as a much sought after classic car. These vehicles are often restored to their original condition and sometimes modified for drag racing the world over.
With the date now set as September 20th/21st at Shakespeare County Raceway, it is anticipated that this one of a kind event will gather the large collection of Tri Chevy ‘57s outside of the good ole USofA. Everyone is welcome to come along and soak up the celebrations, and you don’t have to own a Chevy either! All brands, all models, hot rods and customs will be equally welcome to come along and participate.
There will be daytime entertainment, show ‘n’ shine, trade village, band Ricky Cool & The In Crowd at Kenny’s Bar, photo opportunities at local attractions as well as the drag strip (but no racing), food stalls and so much more. The weekend will culminate in a Farewell Cruise around the raceway Sunday afternoon.
Weekend camping is available. Booking forms are now available to download from the official Facebook page or the Shakespeare County Raceway web site. Further info can be found at the 57@57 Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/groups/1419839054922833/ or by calling Wendy on 07883 091339. See you at the biggest celebration outside of the USA since the ’55!

“The Voice” & His Vehicles
Frank Sinatra was called “The Voice” from early in his career. He was heard on his first recording with the Harry James Band singing “All Or Nothing At All” which sold about 8,000 copies that year, later to sell millions as he became better known. As he became famous with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, we have few hints on his growing interest in classy cars. He and his wife Nancy…

Twenty-thirteen has been an eventful year for the automotive world. We've seen birthdays: The iconic Porsche 911 hit 50, and Aston Martin has made it to 100.
Many interesting cars have been released, from the nippy Ford Fiesta ST, through the breathtaking Jaguar F Type range, right through to the next generation of hypercars. Mclaren, Ferrari and Porsche have proven that a hybrid is no longer the exclusive preserve of the eco-hatchbacks, whilst setting blisteringly fast Nurburgring…
