Event Description

The main Exhibition hall at Newark 2011 was home to 56 exhibits from 28 manufacturers, a record number for many years. This was in spite of the fact that there were more last minute withdrawals than ever before due to a range of misfortunes including illness, accidents, break ins and break downs. There were two impressive debuts from MEVX5 from Mills Extreme Vehicles and Pulse GT1 designed by Derek Tyndall. We were also very pleased to welcome five Manufacturers who have not been with us before, Automotive Solutions & Racing, ATV 4x4 World, Exceed Autocraft, JW Motorsports, Listerbell Automotive and two who have returned after a few missed shows, Dakar 4x4 and Westfield Sports cars.

Classic and American Cars Trade stands, Autojumble and Club stands gave visitors plenty to see and do outside. Over the weekend there was a fine array of Classic cars and American Vehicles including some military ones.

The Stig The model control racing cars, craft fair and fun fair also entertained. The (UK Garrison) Stig put a smile on the face of lots of children and many an adult too. Can you spot him in the background in any of the gallery images?

Spitfire Entertainment in the sky was also on the agenda with Battle of Britain fly pasts starting with a Lancaster at lunchtime on Saturday. The low flying display from a Spitfire MkVB piloted by Squadron Leader Ian Smith the Officer Commanding the BBMF was spectacular stuff on Saturday afternoon and repeated again on Sunday afternoon. This was followed by a flypast of the Dakota to close the show on Sunday afternoon.

The Extremes We were well entertained on Friday and Saturday nights both bands whilst very different were both excellent. Friday evening the young band Wrecklass Necklass who gave a great performance, are surely set to go far, so remember where you saw them first. When they were not playing Stuart Mills as DJ stepped into the breach playing some great music. Saturday evening saw the debut of The Extremes playing some classic songs, and they proved to be very popular. The disco kept the party mood going to the very end.

The Newark 11 show was a great way to celebrate 30 years in the business for the organisers Kevin and Lesley Musson. It was in 1981 when they became involved in organising Kit Car Shows and promoting the Kit Car Industry. The first show took over a year to organise and was held at the Lincolnshire Showground in 1983. All subsequent shows have been held at Newark. An additional show was held in 1984 at Manchester. Over the years they have seen many changes. There was a lot worth celebrating, the quality, variety and range of products currently available is very exciting.
