Mercedes-Benz ambassador Adam Scott wins the 2013 Golf Masters

He sank a 25 footer for birdie on the 18th hole of the final round of golf's most storied tournament, The Masters, only to be matched minutes later by Angel Cabrera, forcing a playoff at Augusta National. After trading pars on the first hole of the playoff, he then rolled in a birdie from 12 feet out to win The Masters.

The rest, as they say, is history.

With that, Adam Scott became the first Australian to win The Master's in the 77-year history of the tournament. Oh, and did we mention that he did it in a steady rain, which unquestionably made conditions all the more challenging?

Aussie Adam Scott took home The Master's green jacket in style. But his golf game is far from the only stylish aspect of his life. For instance, Scott is also the brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz. Yes, the two-time major winner is also an ambassador for what's one of the most prestigious automakers in the world. In fact, it's likely that many of the spectators that cheered Scott on throughout the famed golf tournament to his dramatic win on Sunday drove to the event in an Mercedes used automobile.

Scott is one of golf's brightest young stars whose fame could skyrocket to Tiger Woods type levels after his thrilling win at Augusta. And it came in a dramatic way. Tied for the lead at eight strokes under par coming up to hole 18, he sank an improbable birdie putt to give him the lead at nine under par. The only problem was that the final group's golfers, specifically 2009 Master's winner Angel Cabrera, still had a chance to tie with a birdie of his own. And after knocking an approach shot within three feet of the pin, Cabrera's birdie tap in secured a one-on-one playoff, the third of such in the last few years for the tournament.

In fact, Cabrera nearly won the tournament on the first playoff hole when his pitch shot rolled within inches of the pin. But both he and Scott settled for par and moved onto the second hole to decide the major tournament winner. After hitting similar approach shots, it was Scott who rolled in for birdie, securing the win, while Cabrera's birdie attempt just rimmed the cup for another near miss. The $1.4 million winner's purse and green jacket went to an Australian for the first time in the tournament's prestigious history.

The win is good for Scott, Australia and also for Mercedes-Benz (not to mention the SLS AMG model that Scott drives), who will all get their fare share of exposure and attention in the immediate future, or at least until a new winner is crowned at Augusta next year.
