Event Description

This year’s Carole Nash International Classic MotorCycle Show is another jam-packed two-day affair, and there can be few places in the world where classic bike enthusiasts can go and see so much in one place at one time. It all takes place on April 23-24 at Staffordshire County Showground…

Trade and autojumble
The Stafford show is the biggest of its kind in the world. Nowhere else on earth will so many traders, dealers, jumblers and other sellers come together to offer such a wealth of items available to buy whether it be classic bikes, or parts, pieces, spares and accessories for them.

Clubs
Classic Brit bikes, exotic continentals, rare contraptions… the wonderful and expansive mix of club stands packed into the halls at Staffordshire County Showground has it all. A quick browse of the A-Z list and all the big-hitters are there from the likes of the multi-interest VMCC and VJMC through to the specialist owners’ clubs covering marques such as Francis-Barnett, Sunbeam, Velocette and Norton among others.

Private Entries
Thousands of painstaking hours are spent by owners ensuring their exhibit is in its best possible condition ready for display and inspection by the packed crowds and award judges. As would be expected at the April show, there is a focus on British machines and marques such as Cotton, Norton, Sunbeam, BSA, Triumph and Ariel feature heavily. Suzuki, Laverda, Indian and Harley-Davidson – among others – do provide an international flavour however. Alongside the machines on the show’s club stands, the private entries will compete for a host of show awards including the coveted Best in Show.

See them ridden and hear them roar
In the Classic Racer GP Paddock, famous machines are fired up twice during each day of the event with the guest of honour in attendance, and over in the Classic Dirt Bike off-road arena there are two daily trials demonstrations hosted by journalist Tim Britton and aided by the Owd Codgers. Both are supported by static displays of stunning machines from individuals and groups alike. The entertainment doesn’t end there either, with the gravity-defying Wall of Death open to showgoers throughout the weekend.

Bonhams’ auction
There are several machines competing for the title of ‘headline’ motorcycle at this year’s Stafford Spring Sale. Among them are a Coventry-Eagle Flying 8, a 1939 Vincent HRD Series-A Rapide, the Broughs of Bodmin and the V-twin JAP engine Thor – the famous Francis Williams/Ernie Woods sprint iron. For more details, see our latest Bonhams news story.

Special guest Steve Parrish
Perennial practical joker Steve Parrish will be the star guest and speaker at this year’s Stafford show. A popular after dinner speaker and host, Steve will bring a wealth of stories to the Stafford stage and is sure to keep those in the halls entertained as he chats with compere and fellow ITV4 TT pundit Steve Plater.

Restoration Theatre with Jerry Thurston
For April’s Restoration Theatre journalist and TV presenter Jerry will be taking on a live motorcycle rebuild of a Suzuki AS50 using genuine Suzuki parts. The team expect to have a ready-to-run bike ready by the close of play on Sunday…

“The Voice” & His Vehicles

Frank Sinatra was called “The Voice” from early in his career.   He was heard on his first recording with the Harry James Band singing “All Or Nothing At All” which sold about 8,000 copies that year, later to sell millions as he became better known. As he became famous with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, we have few hints on his growing interest in classy cars. He and his wife Nancy…

Twenty-thirteen has been an eventful year for the automotive world. We've seen birthdays: The iconic Porsche 911 hit 50, and Aston Martin has made it to 100.

Many interesting cars have been released, from the nippy Ford Fiesta ST, through the breathtaking Jaguar F Type range, right through to the next generation of hypercars. Mclaren, Ferrari and Porsche have proven that a hybrid is no longer the exclusive preserve of the eco-hatchbacks, whilst setting blisteringly fast Nurburgring…
